Install the Immersive Translate Extension
Visit the Immersive Translate Official Download Page and install the latest extension for your browser (Chrome, Edge, Safari, Firefox).
[!TIP] Mobile users (such as iOS Safari or extension-supported Android browsers) can also install and use it directly.
Open Translation Service Settings
- Click the Immersive Translate extension icon in the top-right corner of your browser;
- Click Options (Settings) at the bottom of the popup menu to enter the extension settings dashboard;
- Click Developer Settings in the left navigation sidebar.
Configure OpenRely Custom Translation Service
Immersive Translate natively supports custom OpenAI-compatible interfaces:
- Enable Build prompt in target language or customize the model provider;
- Find OpenAI (or click "Add custom service" and select
OpenAI Compatible); - Fill in the following parameters:

- Click Test Service Connection below the input fields. If a prompt indicating successful test translation appears, the configuration is complete!
Enable Immersive Bilingual Reading
- Web Page Bilingual Translation: Visit any English technical documentation, academic paper, or foreign news website, and press the shortcut Alt + A (Mac: Option + A). The entire page will be presented intelligently with side-by-side bilingual paragraphs;
- PDF & Literature Fine Translation: Select "Read Document" from the extension menu, import a local English PDF or EPUB, and read bilingual literature with high typesetting fidelity on the same screen;
- Mouse Hover Word Translation: Hover over a paragraph or word and press the shortcut to instantly obtain deep contextual definitions from the large model.
